Transitional rugs are a combination of traditional and modern rug styles. Traditional rugs come in a large variety of patters that merge style elements from the traditional and modern rugs that range from floral, to natural, to geometric. Transitional rugs also come in plethora of colors, and tones which lend them to working well with many different furniture styles.

Transitional rugs are similar to traditional rugs in that many include floral designs. What sets the transitional rugs apart is that the floral print is usually much larger in comparison to the traditional rugs which give the rugs a more modern appearance.

Transitional rugs also resemble modern rugs in that they often include what is known in the industry as tone on tone which is a blend of wool and silk in the same tone that is used to delineate the design in the rug through texture. Usually the silk surface of the rug is matched to the color in field of the rug.
